True Love. Not Made In Hollywood!

Again, this was a poem that I wasn’t really sure I was going to share.  I obviously had a change or heart, but I will admit it was for odd reasons.

true love...not made in hollywood

Lately there have been many “news” stories about celebrities and their failed romances and marriages.  I am painfully aware that the divorce rate in our country is incredibly high.  One of the reasons that have been repeatedly mentioned is that people have “fallen out of love” or, that the passion that these couples once felt has disappeared.

This is a poem about the beginnings of love.  That feeling you get when you see someone for the first time and sparks fly before you even share a conversation.

As I have said before, I am a very lucky woman … I met and married my best friend.  I want you to be able to read this, look at your spouse and remember that spark.  You may not be able to see it as brightly anymore but I assure you, it is there.

 At First Glance
The first time I met you
my heart skipped a beat
I didn’t know you’re name
but I knew that we’d meet
The butterflies you gave me
they drove me insane
With one look from you
I knew life wouldn’t be the same
Looking across the room
I caught your glance
You gave me chills
and made my soul dance
I couldn’t help but look at you
and catch you looking at me
The electricity between us
was plain for all to see
Although I tried to hide it
everyone else knew
I tried to be nonchalant
while hoping you felt it too
I wanted to get close to you
but couldn’t find a way
So the butterflies grew more intense
with each and every day
Just wanting to feel your touch
was more than I could bear
I wanted to get closer to you
but I just didn’t dare
Usually these things pass with time
so I almost find it strange
After all this time
not a thing has changed

Well Colleen, another very nice poem. You are so very blessed in your marriage to Russ. Not many are so lucky to have such special feeling that last. God Bless you both!
